No single CRM is best. A solo creator sending a weekly newsletter needs something very different from an agency running lead gen for twenty clients. Here's how the six main options split.
| Tool | Best for | Core strength | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|
| HighLevel | Agencies and local service businesses | CRM, funnels, SMS/email, booking and reputation in one account; white-label options for agencies | Lots of features to set up; the interface takes time to learn |
| HubSpot | Growing teams that want one database for marketing, sales and service | Free CRM tier and separate Hubs you add as you grow | Costs climb steeply at the Professional tier |
| ActiveCampaign | Businesses whose revenue depends on email follow-up | Detailed automation builder plus a built-in sales CRM | Pricing scales with contact count |
| GetResponse | Marketers who want email, landing pages and webinars together | Webinar hosting next to email in one tool | CRM features are lighter than a dedicated CRM's |
| ClickFunnels | People selling online offers through funnels | Funnel and sales page building | Not a full sales CRM for phone-heavy teams |
| Kit | Creators and newsletter businesses | Simple email with tagging and automations | Not built for sales pipelines |
HighLevel combines a pipeline CRM, two-way texting and email, funnels and websites, calendars, and review requests. Agencies use it because they can set up sub-accounts for clients and, on higher plans, rebrand it as their own software. If your business runs on calling and texting leads quickly (home services, clinics, local agencies), it covers most of what you'd otherwise buy as four separate tools.

HubSpot's free CRM is a real starting point: contacts, deals and basic email tracking. You then add Marketing Hub, Sales Hub or Service Hub at Starter, Professional or Enterprise level. The appeal is one clean database as the company grows. The catch is that the Professional tiers cost a lot more than Starter.
ActiveCampaign's automation builder handles branching sequences based on behavior, such as opens, clicks, site visits and tags, and it includes a deal pipeline. It's a strong fit when most of your follow-up happens by email.
GetResponse bundles email marketing, landing pages and webinar hosting. If you sell through live or recorded webinars, you can keep the whole flow in one tool.
ClickFunnels is built around sales funnels: opt-in pages, order forms, upsells. Choose it when the website and checkout matter more than a phone-sales pipeline.
Kit (formerly ConvertKit) keeps email simple: forms, tags, sequences and a creator-focused feature set. It isn't a sales CRM, and it doesn't try to be.
How this page was made: from each provider's official product and pricing pages and its public documentation. We haven't run a formal hands-on test for this page. When we add hands-on notes, we'll label them.
Only some vendors publish exact prices that we could confirm. For HighLevel we list the published numbers. For the others we describe how their pricing scales and link to the official page, because their prices depend on contact count, seats or billing term.
| Tool | How pricing scales | Free option | Official pricing |

"Check plan" means the feature exists but depends on tier or region. Confirm on the vendor's own feature list.
Speed to lead. If most of your leads come from ads or forms and you close by phone, the gap between a form fill and your first text is what matters. Tools with native SMS and automated first replies close that gap without extra software.
The real monthly cost. Add up the subscription, per-seat fees, per-contact tiers and message usage. A tool that looks cheap at 1,000 contacts can cost three times as much at 10,000. Flat-price tools move the cost to usage instead.
Who does the setup. All-in-one platforms replace several apps, but somebody has to build the pipelines, templates and automations. If no one on your team will own that, a simpler email tool with fewer moving parts may get used more.
Where your data lives as you grow. Moving CRMs later is painful. If you expect separate marketing, sales and support teams within two or three years, pick a system that suits that structure from the start.
We limit this page to tools whose vendors run affiliate or partner programs we can disclose. That's why some well-known CRMs aren't on it. If none of the six fits, look for the same things: native follow-up channels, transparent pricing and an export path for your data.
Scores on this page are editorial scores out of 10. We built them from official product, pricing and documentation pages, checked in October 2026, using the weighted criteria below. Advertisers do not influence our ratings, and we haven't run lab-style benchmarks for this page.
